REMONDIS starts its service in the Province Liègeoise

On 1 January 2017, REMONDIS started its service for the collection of recyclables in the region of Liège. REMONDIS will provide its collection services for 16 municipalities in the Province of Liège. As a result, our company will service a total of 120,000 inhabitants, and provide employment to 35 people. The new contract includes services for the collection of recyclables, organic refuse, cardboard, plastic and paper.

A brand new fleet to service Liège

REMONDIS, in cooperation with the intercommunal association INTRADEL has set up a new transfer station in Ivoz-Ramet, in close proximity to the company’s own logistics center. This new transfer station will allow REMONDIS to increase efficiency in the distances travelled, and hence save important economic resources whilst protecting the environment.

To complete its service, REMONDIS has acquired 13 new bi-compartmented trucks. These include 8 trucks for the collection of household and organic refuse, as well as 5 new trucks for the collection of paper and plastic.

    Liège: Wallonia's economic powerhouse

With close to 200.000 inhabitants, Liège is the largest city in the region of Wallonia. Although some may argue that Wallonia's best days are behind, the region still withhold important economic assets, such as a developed chemical industry, or the production of aerospace technology. Liège is the economic capital of a region accounting for 3.6 million people.

With its excellent geographic position close to the German and Dutch borders, Liège is able to attract important industry actors. For these reasons, both BUCHEN and Remondis Industrie Service also conduct their regional operations from Ivoz Ramet and Milmort, both located in the Province of Liège. Both REMONDIS Industrie Service and BUCHEN are members of the REMONDIS company group.

Moving forward with an ambitious team

The new contract won by REMONDIS in Liège is a step forward for the Province of Liège in what concerns an effective and efficient service for the collection of recyclables. It is also an important step forward for our company on the Belgian market: With this new contract for INTRADEL, REMONDIS now provides services to one of the most important public authorities in the Kingdom. INTRADEL is a public association of 72 local municipalities in Wallonia, and is directly responsible for providing municipal services to close to one million inhabitants.

The presence of other companies from the REMONDIS group in the region opens further opportunities for the use of synergies. From its new location in Ivoz-Ramet, REMONDIS will be able to increasingly offer services in the commercial and industrial collection of non-hazardous refuse materials.
