Bruins & Kwast: “Energy from nature and environment”

In March 2017, REMONDIS Nederland BV acquired the recycling company Bruins & Kwast. Headquartered in Goor, in the eastern part of the Netherlands, Bruins & Kwast is a company specialised in the recycling of organic materials and the production of biofuels from organic refuse. The acquisition process was successfully completed and finalized in early March 2017. However, the transaction will be effective retroactively from the 1 January 2017.

Bruins & Kwast is specialised in the production of biofuels from vegetables, wood, sludge, and other high-calorie fractions. Moreover, the company creates various compost materials, and supplies both gardeners and the agricultural sector with soil products under the company’s own brand Noviterra. Going further, Bruins & Kwast provides for different types of services; such as gardening services, the collection of residual and green materials, the provision of collection containers and other logistic services.

The acquisition of Bruins & Kwast is yet another step forward for REMONDIS in the Netherlands. Upon signing the purchase agreement, Dr Andreas Krawczik, Managing Director of REMONDIS in the Netherlands, stated: “We are delighted to continue the tradition of the family business, and its customer-oriented solutions. REMONDIS is a successful family business, which can really identify with the Bruins & Kwast philosophy and with its traditions. We are delighted with this new addition to the company portfolio in the Netherlands. With a larger service portfolio, we are convinced that we can provide the best possible services to our commercial and municipal clients in the Netherlands.”

All round services - fully natural products

Bruins & Kwast offers specialised contract services in the area of green and organic refuse removal. The company adapts its services to the customer’s needs. B&K employs specialised and highly trained professionals and uses advanced equipment for the heavy duty. The company’s operations are often diverse and complex, such as assignments in close proximity to highways or train tracks. Furthermore, Bruins & Kwast undertakes a wide range of assignments for municipalities and private contractors. This way, B&K provides services, and produces secondary raw materials at the other end.

    A provider of renewable energy

People tend to assume that the sources of renewable energy are limited to wind, water or the sun. However, more than half of the renewable energy produced in the Netherlands comes from Biomass. Energy from Biomass is produced by the following means: combustion, gasification or the fermentation of organic materials.

An innovative business model & cutting-edge technology

Bruins & Kwast produces different types of high-calorie biofuels such as amongst others, pellets and wooden chip. These pellets are dried with the help of heat derived from organic refuse, making their production process particularly sustainable. Transporting loose green refuse material can be unnecessarily costly and has a higher impact on the environment. Therefore, B&K is devoted to reducing the mass of bulk green waste for the biomass production, as close as possible to where it is needed.
