REMONDIS has been involved in the collection of discarded clothing items for the last 20 years. These textile materials are collected at several of REMONDIS’ plant locations all across Germany. The local collection of clothing is generally organised in correlation to municipal contracts for the collection of conventional recyclables. The provision of collection services for textile materials has proven to be fruitful for many of our regional and local branches across Germany. REMONDIS has been able to gain considerable experience in the area of textile recycling over the past years. The market for refuse textiles has many of the characteristics prevalent in other markets for raw materials.

There are strong fluctuations in prices. Furthermore, the criteria for the determination of prices for used clothing are not always quite straightforward. Customers have diverging opinions on what items are valuable, and therefore the prices vary accordingly.
