REMONDIS awarded new contract in Landsmeer

Since January 2017, REMONDIS Nederland BV has been in charge of collection services for household recyclables in the municipality of Landsmeer. Landsmeer is a city in the Netherlands, located on the northern outskirts of Amsterdam. The local municipality of Landsmeer has jurisdiction over the towns of Landsmeer, Den Ilp and Purmerend. It accounts for approximately 11,000 households. Landsmeer is a green city: the town’s centre is surrounded by protected nature and waterways. Furthermore, Landsmeer is in short distance to the vibrant urban environment of Amsterdam.

REMONDIS was able to acquire this new tender, by strategically rethinking the collection scheme for the municipality. In the past, recyclables had been collected on a single weekday. This required a large amount of trucks and personnel.

To remediate to this excess capacity, REMONDIS reorganised the collection schedule. It spread out the collection service over several weekdays. Therefore, our company was able to save some important resources for the local municipality.

On 22 December 2016, Nico van Baarsen, Deputy Governor of the Municipality of Landsmeer officially awarded the contract to REMONDIS.
